Mr Smith joined News Digital Media in January 2007 as chief executive officer for carsguide.com.au, soon after he moved into the role of chief commercial officer, drawing on his strong sales and marketing background

Mr Smith began his career as marketing manager for Mt Buller ski resort.

Other roles previously held by Mr Smith, include head of retail segments at St. George Bank and chief executive officer at Virtual Communities Limited.

He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
