Final Five Finalists Annouced for Carsguide Car of the Year

Carsguide announces complete list of finalists for 2008 Car of the Year Awards

Carsguide.com.au also invites public to participate in People’s Choice Award

The ten finalists of the carsguide Car of the Year Awards 2008 were announced today.

The ten cars, as selected by the carsguide team of editors, include a pair of Aussie icons and three perennial favourites out of Japan.

The finalists:

• Audi A4 1.8T
• BMW 135i Coupe
• Fiat 500 1.4 Sport
• Jaguar XF Diesel
• Ford Falcon G6E Turbo
• Holden Sportswagon SS
• Honda Accord Euro 2.4
• Mazda6 Classic Hatch
• Mitsubishi Evolution X
• Volkswagen Tiguan TDi

People’s Choice Award

Editor of carsguide.com.au, Karla Pincott, said that “while the views of carsguide’s expert judging panel are undoubtedly compelling, Australian motorists are ultimately the best judges of exactly what car is right for them.”

The People’s Choice Award launched today and an online poll is live until midnight Thursday November 27 at www.carsguide.com.au/coty.

The winner will be announced on Friday 28 November. Last year’s winner, the Holden SV6 Ute, was selected by 6,500 motorists.

Carsguide Best Green Car 2008

Finalists in the carsguide Best Green Car Award 2008 will be announced in News Ltd’s newspapers on Sunday November 23. Representing a diverse field encompassing turbo-charged diesel cars, petrol-electric hybrids and small petrol models, the “green machine” finalists will be selected by the judges based on their efficiency, economy and emissions.
