Local Business Encouraged to “Stake Their Claim"

When a business "claims" and populates their online listing with relevant content in a search directory, visits to their business page can increase by up to 60 per cent according to new statistics revealed by Australia's premier review site, TrueLocal.com.au.

In support of this, TrueLocal has launched a “stake your claim” trade campaign targeted at local businesses nationwide encouraging them to claim their TrueLocal listing to increase visibility to their target customers.

Advertisements will run throughout December and January in community newspapers, targeting TrueLocal's market of local businesses and consumers.

Claiming a listing on Truelocal is free and gives businesses free reign to add relevant content to their business page including links to company websites, email addresses, opening hours, social media contact information, current deals and promotions, up to 10 images and Google maps information.

Content is not only presented on TrueLocal's website, but also on the mobile site and iPhone app. With a huge growth in mobile traffic, spurred by people using smart phones to find information on the move, it‟s increasingly important to have a good presence on these devices.

General Manager of TrueLocal, Simon Carson encouraged local businesses to stake their claim to increase the relationship and service they can provide to their customers.

“At TrueLocal, it is our goal to help local businesses connect with their customers. In today‟s fast moving and erratic economy, it's important that there small businesses have access to marketing services that are free and easy to use.”

Other statistics TrueLocal has uncovered as part of its campaign are:

  • By populating your listing with additional content, you will receive 60 per cent more of traffic than a basic listing
  • If your TrueLocal listing has been reviewed, you will receive quadruple the number of views than a basic listing
  • If your TrueLocal listing has more than 10 reviews, it receives an incredible 19 times more traffic than a basic listing
  • The combination of a high number of reviews and up to date content can give your TrueLocal listing well above 20 times more than a basic listing.

Mr Carson continued: “There are tangible benefits of claiming your listing on TrueLocal. By taking control of your presence and encouraging customers to review your business, more customers will find you and more customers will call or visit you. Consumers really respond to seeing fresh content from both the business and other customers.”

If your business is already on TrueLocal but you haven‟t claimed it yet, click "Claim this listing" in the top right-hand corner of your business listing page or visit truelocal.com.au/freelisting.

If your business is not already listed on TrueLocal it can be added via the Business Centre tab at the top of the main page and by clicking on the List Your Business For Free link.
