NEWS.com.au, in partnership with mcm entertainment, today announced the launch of the Take 40 Chart on its Entertainment site. With the Top 40 Chart Music Player, NEWS.com.au readers who visit the entertainment section at http://www.news.com.au/entertainment can now listen to and watch the latest hit music tracks and videos, including top 40 tracks from the past 25 years.
The free service gives visitors a choice from 10 different playlists ranging from Covers and Soundtracks to the Take 40 Most Streamed. Users can also access artist biographies, photo galleries, and top five facts linked through to the Take 40 website.
Sigrid Kirk, publisher of NEWS.com.au, said expanding the site’s music offering through Take 40 would be hugely beneficial for NEWS.com.au visitors. “We are proud to be the only news, information and entertainment site in Australia to offer the music video and audio track functionality to its users,” Ms Kirk said.
“The Take 40 brand is synonymous with music in Australia, with most people growing up listening to the national countdown on radio each Sunday.
“There are very few websites where people can watch high-resolution music videos that aren’t user-generated or recorded on a camera. All the tracks have been released from the record companies and are of the highest-quality possible.” Tony McGinn, chief executive officer of mcm entertainment, said there was a natural audience connection between Take 40 and the NEWS.com.au/entertainment brand.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with News Ltd, one of the world’s biggest and most innovative media companies and its popular NEWS.com.au website to launch the Take 40 Chart Music Player.
“For the first time, Take 40 content will be available beyond its own website, offering consumers the freedom to access highest-quality music to enjoy via their regular and favourite sites. “The demographic of NEWS.com.au’s entertainment section represents the general online population, with strengths among the affluent and technologically aware.
This is the core of our audience, so the partnership is very important in gaining a new audience.” At the super bandwidth settings, the Take 40 Music Player on NEWS.com.au offers near-DVD quality videos and significantly higher audio quality than standard iTunes downloads and other rival music sites here and abroad. The Take 40 Music Chart Player was built by the team at mcm entertainment and they will continue to manage and host the player while it is housed on the NEWS.com.au/entertainment website.
The Take 40 music chart is updated weekly and playlists, monthly. To visit the Take 40 Music Player on NEWS.com.au/entertainment, visit
