News Digital Media Wins B&T Media Sales Team of the Year for the Second Year Running

News Digital Media has retained its title of B&T’s Media Sales Team of the Year.

At the industry magazine’s awards ceremony on Friday night, a jury of industry experts chose News Digital Media’s sales team above those of ACP Magazines – 30 days of Fashion, JC Decaux, MTV and Pacific Magazines.

Editor of B&T, Tim Addington said that News Digital Media’s win was well deserved.

“Last year's winner retained the trophy, thanks to a period of reinvigoration over the past 12 months that has seen News Digital Media's sales team focus on collaboration and partnership.

 “In both its written submission and presentation the team demonstrated clearly how its collaborative approach - between sales, product and operations - significantly boosted the business in terms of revenue and client base.

 “News Digital Media also impressed the jurors with a submission that painted a picture of a sales operation that was buttoned-down, focused and fun at the same time.” The jury said: “They come across as a very slick and professional team, with a commitment to culture that you can't overlook.

 “News Digital Media goes into 2009 well positioned with both its clients and its staff, after another strong showing in 2008."

Ed Smith, chief commercial officer of News Digital Media said that the team is proud to have been recognised by their industry peers for their hard work.

“This award is a significant acknowledgement for our team’s fantastic results and constant first-class service to our clients. Over the past year, the team has developed solid relationships with advertisers, securing strong campaigns to run across our suite of 23 sites. “

In 2008, News Digital Media:

  • Expanded its sales force to Brisbane and Perth creating a national sales presence
  • Signed a strategic alliance with sports giant, ESPN, becoming the exclusive Australian sales representative for three of ESPN’s specialist sports sites - ESPNCricinfo.com, ESPNSoccernet.com and ESPNScrum.com.
  • Launched two new targeting initiatives designed to better connect advertisers with their target audience

The award follows News Digital Media becoming the only major online publisher to increase market share in the general online advertising market according to the Australia Online General Advertising Market 2008-12 Report, commissioned by Frost & Sullivan.
