Stephen Browning Appointed Director of Corporate Affairs

The chief executive officer of News Digital Media, Richard Freudenstein, today announced the appointment of Stephen Browning as the company’s director of corporate affairs.

Mr Browning, currently News Limited’s manager, corporate communication starts in the role on September 22 and will report to News Digital Media’s chief operating officer, Nick Leeder.

Mr Freudenstein said that Mr Browning would be a valuable addition to the senior management team. “Stephen brings with him a great mix of experience in corporate affairs and consumer communications.

“At a time of huge growth for our businesses, Stephen is charged with ensuring our strategic communications and issues management are carefully managed.”

Mr Browning said he was excited to be joining News Digital Media at such an exciting time.

“Right now News Digital Media is the most innovative digital business in the country. It is the company which everyone is talking about and the place where everyone wants to work.

I look forward to working with Richard and the first-class senior management team he has assembled.”

News Digital Media’s corporate communications manager Kate McQuestin, who is currently on maternity leave, will return to work in early 2009.

Working in a part-time capacity, she will report to Mr Browning. Mr Browning began his career as a publicist in the music industry in London, representing numerous international bands including Kiss, The Black Crowes and Live.

In 2001, he joined BSkyB as a publicist working across the 11 Sky Movies channels. He was promoted to head of publicity for the flagship entertainment channel Sky One in 2004. After emigrating to Australia in 2005, Mr Browning was appointed PR and channel manager for Austar. He joined News Limited as manager, corporate communication in 2006.
